Outdoor Shakespeare Festival

Imaginarium Theatre are proud to present the first ever Prescot Outdoor Shakespeare Festival. In partnership with Knowsley MBC, Arts Council England and the Shakespeare North Playhouse.

This summer, Imaginarium Theatre launches a two day festival bringing to life some of the Bards best loved stories through theatre, storytelling and more! Members of the community are invited into the stunning surround of Prescot Woodland Theatre for a selection of three plays by Imaginarium Ensemble, Young Shakespeare Company and Act III Youth Theatre.

The Plays

A Midsummer Nights Dream

Imaginarium Young Actors are excited to be working on their debut production, an abridged version of the nations favourite Shakespeare 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

This new company, made up of 11 - 18 year olds has also been working with RSC Voice and Text specialist Michael Corbidge to help bring Shakespeare's text to life.

Julie Ashurst, Director and Education Manager for Imaginarium said this: 'This years new company has been a joy to work with. Having started back in lockdown these young people soldiered on through zoom calls with a great enthusiasm - until we could finally meet again in person. Now we are back in our woodland theatre and looking forward to sharing with you all our hard work!'.

The Players Strange Present...

This new, original play by Imaginarium Act III Youth Theatre promises to beat even Shakespeare's record with a play, within a play, within a play! (beat that shakey!)

This hilarious retelling of Hamlet and Julius Caesar is Shakespeare like you have never seen before written by Carl James Fowler, the piece also features elements devised by the cast itself.

Act III is Imaginarium's senior youth theatre group and we are incredibly proud to share with you this fantastic new play.

As You Like It

This summer Imaginarium Ensemble returns to the forest of Arden for a reimagining of our celebrated 2016 tour of As You Like It. Set amongst a canopy of lush green trees, this tale of love and mistaken identity is the perfect tonic after a year in lockdown.

Imaginarium's Artistic Director, Gaynor La Rocca, said this on the production: “After a difficult year full of lockdowns and staying indoors, we are delighted to be welcoming people back to the Forest of Arden for this firm family favourite. As You Like It invites the audience to go on a journey of love, laughter and self-discovery, and its glorious pastoral setting is only made more stunning against the backdrop of some of the city regions most scenic parks and gardens.”

Tickets for all of the shows in our Shakespeare Festival can be found here.
